At least four of the Top 100 Megadealers won't be on the list next year. These groups were bought by larger entities late in 1998.

Making their last stand in the Top 100 are #18 Tasha Automotive Group, #23 Cross-Continent Auto Retailers, #38 Thomason Auto Group, and #64 Crown Automotive. Republic bought Tasha and Cross-Continent, Asbury bought Thomason and Crown.
